On July 12, 2016, China rejected a ruling by the UN Permanent Court of Arbitration on the West Philippine Sea in favor of the Philippines. With the rejection came a new “”claim”” based on evidence “”uncovered”” recently by Chinese archaeologists on the islands in the West Philippine Sea: sachets of shabu “dating back to 3,000 B.C.”
